About the Choralaires

We are an auditioned chorus of men and women from Novi and the surrounding communities brought together by a shared love of music and fellowship. The group was founded in 1975 and operates under the umbrella of Novi Parks Perfoming Arts. We perform a Christmas concert series each December, a Spring Concert in May, and at a number of venues throughout our season, which runs from September through May.

We are committed to preserving the choral tradition of singing 4-, 6- and even 8-part music of varied time periods and composers. Most of our members have a singing background from high school and/or college and all want to continue making music with others who share a common interest. We work hard to present quality choral music, and we sing because it makes us happy. We believe that the right song at the right time can work miracles.

Director - Janet Wassilak

Jan has been directing the Choralaires since 1977. She holds a Bachelor of Music Education degree and a Master of Music in Applied Voice, both from Boston University. An active church musician in Massachusetts and Michigan since 1967, Jan is currently Director of Music Ministries at First United Methodist Church in Farmington.

Accompanist - Trenda Baldridge

Trenda has been accompanying the Choralaires since 1997. She is the full-time accompanist for Southfield-Lathrup High School in Southfield, Michigan. She is actively involved in several churches in the metro Detroit area and performs with a jazz trio for weddings and other events.
